The artwork is a drawing of an "impossible triangle" with an interconnecting beam extending from each side of the triangle, going to another side.
The artwork was created with pencil. For some of the lines a ruler was used. The idea of using an impossible shape came to my mind I don't think I exactly had goals for this artwork I struggled to settle with an idea. My landscape artwork shows two large trees in the foreground, with a valley behind it that has a river flowing horizontally. Further in the distance, behind the valley, is a large hill. Trees are scattered across the valley and the hill.
This artwork was created using paint. Most of the artwork was created using straight brush strokes, but I used some circular brush strokes for the left tree in the foreground. The inspiration for this artwork came from a trading card from Magic the Gathering. The artwork is a combination of both of the illustrations that the card was made with. I didn't really follow a goal once I chose what I was going to do and started working on it. Overall I don't think the artwork was too complicated, with the two trees in the foreground being the most complex part of it to make. Understanding art worlds: I received advice on how to draw a valley behind a hill.
Reflect: It took me some time before an idea was chosen Painting boot campEngage and persist- I managed to stay focused rather well on the work
Develop craft- I got to work with blending acrylic paint colors I My artwork for the object is a mechanical pencil, laid horizontally with the tip on the left. The middle of the pencil is a little bit to the left of the center of the paper. There is a white line, showing reflected light, running horizontally across most of the pencil, and below the pencil there is a black line of shadow that leads to thicker areas of shadow behind the eraser and in the area between the eraser end and the pencil. The artwork is drawn on a gray piece of paper. It was drawn with pencil, and both normal and white charcoal. When making this artwork, I used a ruler to try to get the drawing to be close in size to a real mechanical pencil. The artwork does not have much of a meaning: it is simply a drawing of a mechanical pencil. I don't think I had much of a goal with this artwork, though I did try to be accurate with my measuring for it. I think I overall did well with measuring lines for this artwork. I did make a similar drawing of a mechanical pencil before this, but I did not measure out lengths. If I use measuring in future artworks I could look back on some of the things I did with this artwork.
Dan Brugeman shows man-made structures on landscapes. His artworks seem to mostly consist of sky with the ground and structures filling the lower part of the artwork. Several of his artworks show structures intended for recreation and entertainment, such as rollercoasters, ski hills, and outdoor cinemas.
I think that the thinking drawings used by the artist are a way to practice, and possibly to find new ideas or refine his artwork. The thinking sketches shown relate to the same subject as the final artwork but have the ties arranged differently. The tie that is separated out has a different pattern that the others: it uses swirly lines, while the others use patterns of straight lines, no lines, or, in one case, a tie with dots. Perhaps the tie that is separated out is unique in some way.
I made a sketch of a bottle of lotion for my warm-up drawing, and for the writing prompt I made a sketch of a picture of a road I go running on (I didn't include the animal in the sketch). I created a drawing of a mechanical pencil using pencil and both black and white charcoal. I used the pencil to draw the pencil itself and used the charcoal for shading. I used a line of white charcoal to show a spot of light reflecting off the pencil, used black charcoal for the shadow beneath the pencil, and mixed both types of charcoal for a lighter shadow on the lower part of the pencil.
Observe- I saw the light reflecting off of the pencil and decided to draw it Develop craft- I got another chance to use charcoal Today I did a drawing of a pencil eraser. Then I tried using drawing pencils of different hardness/softness levels to test what they look like. After this, I tried using both black and white charcoal, creating a darkness/lightness scale and creating a shadow underneath a sphere.
